The first meeting of the Eurotowns Innovation Task Team following the new set-up established in the General Assembly in Schiedam in October 2018 took place in Brussels the 3rd and 4th of April 2019. The new agreed methodology included a co-leadership of the task team among Sabadell (Spain) and Gävle (Sweden) and a thematic focus on two key topics: procedures digitalisation in public administration and circular economy. Seven cities attended the two-days meeting at the Barcelona Province Offices in Brussels. Sessions for both topics included presentations by key-note speakers coming on behalf of the European Commission, the Urban Agenda for the EU and consultants with high expertise on the issues addressed. Information was shared with regard to the state of the art of both topics at the EU level, relevant good practices carried out by other European cities in these fields and EU programs and calls for proposals linked to these subjects. Besides, a presentation was done by participants on the work done in their cities regarding the two topics, which was followed by a discussion with the aim to find common fields of interest. All this information has been gathered and a document on common interests has been developed, setting the necessary background information to work on future collaborations.
