About Eurotowns

Eurotowns was established in 1991 as the medium-sized cities network. It has grown into a Europe-wide network of cities with populations of between 50,000 and 250,000, acting as a catalyst for urban resilience, development and life. Our mission is to develop a network of vibrant, socially inclusive and sustainable medium-sized European cities.

Who can join?

To be eligible for Eurotowns membership, your city must meet the following criteria:

Population

Population between 50,000 and 250,000

Location

Located in a country of the European Union

Active
involvement

Actively committed to European values and cooperation

Application procedure

The application process involves the following steps:

Prepare Your Application

Gather background information about your city and prepare a statement describing your ambitions for your membership in the Eurotowns network.

Open envelope with letter

Submit a Formal letter

Your application must be supported by a formal letter of interest from your city. Submit this letter, along with your city information and European, to the Eurotowns Secretariat.

Review By The Executive Council

All membership applications are reviewed and decided upon by the Executive Council.

Ratification By The General Assembly

The Executive Council's decision is formally ratified by the General Assembly before a membership is confirmed.

Who can join?

To be eligible for Eurotowns membership, your city must meet the following criteria:

Payment Due Date
30 June each year
First-Year Exemption
New members are exempt from paying the fee in their first year of membership
Reimbursement Rights
New members are not entitled to claim reimbursements during the first (fee-exempt) year
Late Payment
Failure to pay suspends reimbursement rights until the fee is settled
Non-Payment (12+ months)
Eurotowns reserves the right to expel the city by General Assembly decision

Withdrawing Membership

Members are free to terminate their membership at the end of any calendar year. To resign, a formal letter must be submitted to the Eurotowns Secretariat before 1 July of the year in which the resignation is to take effect.
